RNA interference, known as RNAi, is a fascinating phenomenon that enables us to understand how organisms control expression of endogenous and exogenous RNAs. Moreover, RNAi represents a powerful research and therapeutic tool for the regulation of gene expression in cells. The use of RNAi in functional genomics makes it possible to analyze the function of a specific gene. Its use in agriculture represents the knockdown of specific genes and the pathways for either removing an undesirable trait or adding a new, desirable one.
