Abstract

Taking control of one’s scientific career is critical for professional success and for overall life satisfaction. For many female scientists, the dual-career household presents ongoing dilemmas for themselves and their partners or spouses. Both individuals are most likely striving for meaningful, productive, and challenging professional work in accord with their interests and training. Even those for whom the dual-career dilemma is not relevant must make strategic and complex decisions about their professional pathway and how it intersects with their overall life interests.
