Abstract

For professionals in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics fields, interactions with individuals from their own specific disciplines are ongoing career-long endeavors. Professional meetings are the locus for both recognition of subject matter achievement and dialogue with peers who are experts in the same field. A scientist may move through a series of institutions during a career trajectory, but the body of scholarly work will be judged by those from within the specialty.
