Abstract
Academic institutions occupy highly visible leadership roles in addressing the needs of faculty members and earlier career stage scientists who face the challenges of dual-career households and of caregiving. For science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) faculty and scholars, it is essential to recognize their need for professional travel and conference attendance.
