Pastels
The outline of the head with
the neckerchief is drawn.
Details are not drawn, only
the folds that the neckerchief
will have. The entire surface
is covered with the base color
of the neckerchief, which
is then carefully smudged
with fingers.
The pattern, in this case
paisley, is drawn with colored
pastels. It is important to
bear in mind that the pattern
follows the folds and volumes
of the material, which must
be shown when drawing.

The last step is to create the
volumes. To do this, the
lights are represented using
a white pastel or one lighter
than the base color, and with
a pastel that is darker than
the base color. The edges
and knots of the neckerchief
are drawn, and the folds that
form the garment are added.

Pastels
The figure with the sarong is
drawn. With a pastel pencil
the main folds are marked
and lightly smudged, taking
into account the direction of
the light. In this case, it is
from above and frontal, so
the upper section and the
parts that project outwards
are the lighter areas.
To reproduce all the different
shades created by the light
and the transparencies,
a wide range of colors
is needed. First of all the
creases in the material are
drawn with a dark color, in
this case, a dark blue. Then
the different shades can
be added.

For the different tones of the
sarong, light colors are used
within the same color range,
like blue, sky-blue, and violet.
To reproduce the transparency
of the material, pink, yellow,
and beige is used, which
insinuate the body beneath
the sarong.

Pastels
Since most earmuffs come in
light colors, dark paper is
used to heighten the contrast.
They are drawn with white,
which is then smudged.
The features of the face are
drawn with strong, thick lines
and the hair is given color,
allowing glimpses of the
background.
