As with lines. applying color in digital illustration is one of the most important and extensive tools drawing programs offer. Layers are essential for this, and are used to organize the work; each layer is for one color.
This chapter shows you how to apply color generally to forms before the Digital Painting chapter introduces the use of brushes. The first exercise explains the basic way of using plain colors in Photoshop (just like drawing on paper, there are different ways of doing things, and each illustrator has to choose the way that is most comfortable).
