The VHN architecture is based on a digital baseband home network common to all intelligent devices in the home. An external network is terminated at an access device that demodulates, decodes, and decrypts according to the external network specification on the outside and interfaces to the common home network on the inside. User devices also on the baseband network in the home may access the external services or data through the access device.
