Overview of Memory Chips
Memory chips are among the most plentiful kind of chips, making up a big part of semiconductor shipments and sales around the world. They're produced and sold by the millions and nearly every electronic item that has any kind of chip in it has at least one memory chip as well. Computers are the biggest users of memory chips. Most PCs have at least eight memory chips, and they often contain two dozen or more. Memory chips also lead the way in new advances in chip manufacturing. New silicon technologies are tried out on memory chips before they're used anywhere else.
