Traditional (analog) photography means expensive film and long and often inconvenient processing. To download pictures to your computer one needs a scanner and this process results in a degraded picture quality. Digital still cameras eliminate the need for film and film processing and make duplication, distribution, processing, copying, and so on, an easy task. Most cameras allow for instant replay of the image and, if you are not happy with the result, you can erase it and try again as many times as you wish. Further development in the field of inexpensive high-quality home printing will eventually lead to the complete elimination of traditional film-based analog cameras.
