Chapter 4. VM Storage Policies on VSAN

In vSphere 5.0, VMware introduced a feature called Profile-Driven Storage. Profile-Driven Storage is a feature that allows vSphere administrators to easily select the correct datastore on which to deploy virtual machines (VMs). The selection of the datastore is based on the capabilities of that datastore. Throughout the life cycle of that VM, Profile-Driven Storage allows the administrator to check whether its underlying storage is still compatible.
