10. Services

Windows Phone is a small, mostly connected device, meaning that most of the time you can expect to be able to access the Internet from the phone. In many ways, Internet access is what has really changed smartphones over the past few years. When you are building your Windows Phone application, you can use the Internet to get information, assets, or whatever your application requires. In this chapter we will review the different ways in which you can use services, from the generic use of REST or Web services, to specific examples of using push notifications and Windows Live services.
