11.3 Configuration Management Framework

In order to manage and control all the piece parts of the artifacts, software engineers must establish a framework to control these items. From the previous section, we can see that the software development and support policies and process will greatly influence the configuration management framework. We will discuss two main models that need to be included in the configuration management framework:
