13.2 Some Project Management Techniques
There are many specific techniques involved in each of the four POMA phases. Some require extremely deep technical knowledge and others demand great social skills. In this section, we will focus on four commonly needed project management skills: (1) project effort estimation, (2) work breakdown structure, (3) project status tracking with earned value, and (4) developing measurements and metrics. The first two of them are techniques needed in the planning and organizing phases, and the third is needed in the monitoring phase. The fourth is needed for part of planning and for monitoring.
