Sustainability analysis covers a wide range of issues and can get trapped by its complexity. The information discovered needs to be fused into a coherent and compelling narrative. The resulting vision of a sustainable future provides the destination to aim for. Without such a vision, sustainability analysis can become a checklist such as monitoring carbon emissions, reducing waste, putting limits on water usage, and improving rates of recycling. Laudable aims, but hardly the stuff of transformation.
