CHAPTER 14: EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS AND RESPONSE

14.1 General requirements (ISO 45001, Clause 8.2)

An effective OH&S hazard identification and risk assessment of routine and non-routine activities of an organisation should also result in identification of potential emergency situations. An organisation should identify potential work-related OH&S emergency situations as well as those that may be caused by external factors or natural disasters. Some of these emergency situations may be:

•Fire;

•Explosion, implosion;

•Accidental release of toxic substances;

•Work-related accidents, injuries, fatalities or other serious medical emergencies;

•Natural disasters such as lightning, earthquakes, floods, snow storms;

•Chemical spills and gas leaks;

•Crash, ...
