How Do Things Get Done Around Here?
Organizations, whether they are for-profit, nonprofit, or just an association of two or more individuals, all have one thing in common. Someone or some group started them. Those people all had personal values, but the follow-up questions would be: (1) Were these values “good” or “bad”? (2) Were they incorporated into the organization’s corporate culture? (3) Did they survive the succession of future leaders?
This chapter analyzes corporate culture by asking and answering three questions:
• What is it?
• Why do we care?
• How can we promote it?
Corporate culture has four separate elements:
