What Happens if a Leader’s Company Gets in Trouble?

Values-based leaders need to understand how to prevent violations. Those that can’t be prevented, need to be detected and dealt with as soon as possible. This chapter investigates how organizations can find and fix their problems and the fines for failing to address them. Regarding violations, it will explore fraud in general and the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) in particular. Remediation will be addressed by the 1991 Federal Sentencing Guidelines for Organizations (FSGO). These were initiated to encourage VBLs to develop effective ethics and compliance programs.
