Stuart Allan is Senior Lecturer in Cultural and Media Studies at the University of the West of England, Bristol. He has written widely on the media, and currently has a special interest in news coverage of science and risk. His books include News Culture (Open University Press, 1999) and the co-edited collections Theorizing Culture (UCL Press/NYU Press, 1995), News, Gender and Power (Routledge, 1998) and Environmental Risks and the Media (UCL Press/Garland Press, 2000).
