Networking revolutionized computing for organizations. Take a look at your device—most modern devices no longer have DVDs, CDs, or floppy disk storage capabilities for data storage and retrieval. Nearly all of the resources that you need at work or at home are shared via the Internet or across a business network.

Like previous versions of Windows, Windows 10 offers the capability to share files and folders, and also access files that have been shared across the network. At home, you don’t require a server to share files, though in a corporate environment, sharing of files internally is normally provided and managed by Windows Server 2012 R2, with the File Services role installed.
