Outlook 2000's Out-of-the-Box Collaboration

Out of the box, Microsoft Outlook fills the role of a generic messaging client as well as a generic contact, tasks, and appointment management application. In the first section of this chapter, we are going to review the features of Outlook as they apply to the following:

  • Appointment management

  • Contact management

  • Task management

  • Journal management

I am going to make the assumption that Microsoft Outlook is configured to run in Workgroup mode on a Microsoft Exchange messaging backbone so that focus can be made on using these built-in features with others within your collaborative infrastructure.
