Expression of Interest: Making Sought-After Roles Visible
AFTER CONDUCTING OUR employee engagement surveys at Payless, it became evident that career development was a key area for improvement. Associates across the organization, but particularly salaried associates below manager level, gave low ratings on questions related to career development conversations and opportunities. In follow-up focus groups, we learned that people narrowly defined career development as promotion. If people weren't being promoted or didn't see promotions around them, they did not feel that career development was happening.
