So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Introduction
Writing is an interesting process. You feel happy and energized when looking at the blank Microsoft Word document with the Chapter 1 title. The energy and happiness, however, quickly disappear and are replaced by tiredness and the constant pressure of deadlines. Finally, when the book is done, you feel extremely exhausted and promise yourself that you will never ever do it again.
It does not take long, however, to begin missing the process, pressure, and sleepless nights. So when Jonathan Gennick from Apress asked me to consider writing a book on In-Memory OLTP, it was an easy sell for him.
