Concurrency defined

Concurrent delays are one of the more difficult aspects of delay for an architect to consider when assessing an application for an extension of time. Delays are said to be concurrent when they affect the progress of the works at the same time. Often, two different causes of delay are partially concurrent; for example, where the contractor is already being delayed because of a shortage of materials and the work is then affected by exceptionally adverse weather conditions.
