Chapter 21. Keeping Some Things Private
Facebook is not a paragon of privacy. It’s a social network, after all, and being social means sharing of oneself. In Facebook’s case, it also means sharing all your personal information by default—which is certainly one way to network with others.
Unfortunately, all this sharing poses a problem for those of us who’d prefer to maintain some semblance of a private life. If you share everything with everyone, then all sorts of information can get out—and be seen by people you don’t want seeing it. It’s a bit of a challenge, and ultimately it involves a degree of compromise to maintain a social profile while protecting your personal privacy.
