As a management development training professional, I've attended or used many of the best-known training programs: Covey, Achieve Global, DDI, Tom Peters, Center for Creative Leadership, Linkage, and many other programs from smaller companies. Those programs are great and have value. Nonetheless, I feel there's something missing with regard to the training I want to provide managers.
I believe management is a craft. It's a practice that builds over time and should improve with experience. The magic word there is should, right? Some managers get better and some don't. In my experience, there are a few reasons some managers don't build their craft:
