Chapter 2. Basic Interactivity and Navigation

Designing for onscreen viewing is a bit different from designing for print. It’s not just a matter of switching to a horizontal format; you have to simplify presentation and help the end user find a logical path through the content. As the content creator, you have to work really hard to make things very easy for the user. You have to anticipate the user’s needs to ensure that their experience is positive. While the goal is still to present information in an attractive way, the approach has to be a bit different in terms of presentation, navigation, and deployment.
