Over the span of two generations, family and work lives have changed dramatically. Dual career couples are the norm. Women fought for equal compensation as their male counterparts and also for the opportunity to be considered for the same roles as men—from firefighters to law enforcement, military to senior executives of Fortune 500 enterprises. While the progress in North America has been slower than many expected, the landscape reflects greater diversity in traditionally male occupations and a larger number of women in director and vice president roles in corporations.
