Results of the field survey

Respondents came from Tokyo, Osaka-Kobe, Seoul, Pusan, Kuala Lumpur, Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. They all claimed to have had some margin of professional or lifestyle choice in deciding to create a business. None of them was unemployed for a long time and actively looking for a job at the time of the creation; they could have continued as salaried workers or stayed at home as full-time housewives. Although the financial motive is not inconsequential in their decision, they all claim to have made a deliberate choice to create a business without compelling economic necessities.
