A Brief History of Video and Video Transmission
Video transmission refers mainly to the visual elements of television transmission. However, the act of transmission, sending and receiving signals, over wire or radio waves, to convey information, news, and other types of communication, began with data and audio signals. Pioneers in television transmission adapted many of the techniques devised for telegraph and later telephone systems. Modern video transmission incorporates sound, and as a result of this shared development, the history of video cannot be fully understood without addressing the transmission of earlier signal types.
