The Answer Print
The director of photography should normally attend the answer print screening, although as this is many weeks after production has finished it is not always possible. The responsibility for approval may then fall to the director, producer or post production supervisor. Since the answer print screening is the first viewing of the final product, there are many factors to be checked. In particular, the accuracy of the negative matching and synchronization of the sound, the general condition of the negative and print (dirt, scratches or sparkle may appear), the colour grading, and the quality of the optical soundtrack.
