It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Chapter 16. Static Effects
STATIC effects are nonanimated graphical effects that you can apply to make your application look better. Static effects are very important to Filthy Rich Clients. They are used to improve the appearance of an application, and they serve as the basis for more complex, animated visual effects. This chapter does not present all of the static effects you may use in your user interface but focuses on a few of the most common effects.
