Chapter 2 Preferences and Importing

Importing your media into FCP is a crucial part of working with the application. The libraries used by FCP allow great flexibility, perhaps more than many people realize. Though media can be moved and operational workflow can be changed at any time, doing so requires time, care, and patience. Generally it’s better to set up importing right to start with so your library structure and media are correctly organized for your productions. There is no one true and certain method for all production and all situations. There are quite a few variables, and I will try to explain some of them in this and the following chapter.
