Introduction

Thanks to modern technology, anybody with even a modest budget can acquire the means of production to make movies. Affordable camera, lighting, editing, and other equipment of professional quality can produce images better than seen on most home television sets, and these are now available to anyone on a modest budget. Simply possessing these professional level tools is not enough, of course. Even I can buy a tool belt with a hammer and a wide range of the power tools, but I would still not be a carpenter, let alone an artist in wood. The same is true of video production. Acquiring and learning how to use the tools is only part of the process. You have to also learn the craft.
