The design of supply chain networks is an important aspect for any organization. The design impacts costs and customer service levels. Companies have a choice of many different supply chain designs. Similar companies in the same industry often have different supply chain designs. However, companies with good designs have one element in common; they are in alignment with their customers’ needs and with the company’s business strategy. Yet, meeting customer needs and expectations is not that easy.
