Your Safety Nets
IN THIS CHAPTER
Looking at what you have at home
Reaching out to loved ones
Understanding government health insurance programs and subsidies
Considering unemployment insurance, tax credits, and housing assistance programs
In Chapters 2 and 3, I discuss big-picture economic problems and personal crises that can upset your financial and personal worlds. To weather such events and perhaps even thrive and capitalize on the inevitable opportunities during such times, you need resources and to be resourceful.

(In Part 4, I discuss how to best position your personal finances when you have the time and space to thoughtfully plan ahead.) We’ll also inventory the myriad government-administered social safety net programs for which you may be eligible.
