Introduction

Throughout the industrialized world, Indigenous populations have been structurally, culturally, and geographically marginalized through a history of colonization characterized by assimilationist policies and practice. One of the outcomes of that profound marginalization has been widespread poverty, both in Indigenous communities and in the experiences of individuals living outside of those communities.
