Introduction

This book is about Financialization, Financial Literacy, and Social Education. Financialization is a powerful interest that stimulates the need for alternative conceptualizations of financial literacy. Financialization refers to the process by which financial institutions, sectors, and markets increase in size and influence relative to the overall economy. The resultant chaos, risk to, and uncertainty in personal finances (Haiven, 2012) were impetus for this book.
