CHAPTER 6

Surviving in the Corporate Environment

The corporate environment is a tough one to succeed in, especially if you are a woman. Before you decide to take a job in a large corporation, or even if you’re already working in one, there are a number of questions you should ask yourself, to make sure this is the path you want to follow.

Search the Internet

The first question usually has to do with pay. What is the appropriate salary for you? The best way to find out, obviously, is to determine what others in the same company, or same industry or same job, are making. Fortunately, finding that out these days is much easier than it was when I was starting out in my career. We didn’t have the internet back then. You do. Take advantage of it.
