5 Image Editing

Editing your image to prepare it for print is perhaps the most important step in the printing process. The editing step also happens to be the most interesting part of the process as well, since it is where most of the aesthetic decisions will be made and because there are so many options available to accomplish each task.

In this chapter we’ll cover the basics of image editing as well as introduce the idea of print interpretation as a way of thinking about how you want your final print to look. Keeping in mind your print interpretation for a particular image is essential as it can underlie all of your editing decisions.
