RC: First Samu tell me about your childhood and family.

SH: I was born in 1971 in a small village in the middle of Finland called Karstula, with about 5000 inhabitants. My father worked in a bus company, and my mother was a housewife, and took care of me and my baby sister. There was no real artistic background in my family as such. My father played guitar in his youth, but gave up his artistic ambitions when me and my sister were born.

My interest in cinema started in childhood, as my parents used to take us to the movies, almost every week. There was a small movie theatre in Karstula, ...
