Pre-production
Before you begin animating and creating the final images of your film, a lot of pre-production is necessary.The main task areas of pre-production are setup, design, storyboards, animatic, and final prep. In general, completing pre-production before moving on to any production tasks is a good idea. There is no hard and fast rule about doing more pre-production as you go along, but you can get distracted if you are constantly (and literally) “going back to the drawing board.” On Booty Call, all the pre-production and 3D pre-production was completed before we began animating, except for a little bit of modeling and rigging on some of the props that the animators dreamed up while we were on course.
