Adaptations to PLC to Meet RBOC and ILEC Requirements

The key telcos that may be looking forward to deploying PLC solutions in the next few years are Regional Bell Operating Companies (RBOCs) and Incumbent Local Exchange Carriers (ILECs). The hierarchical nature of RBOC and ILEC networks has forced them to have complex requirements in terms of management systems. Therefore, some adaptations are needed to fit PLC solutions in RBOC networks (in particular). Figure 8-4 shows a conceptual diagram of the approximate adaptations needed to fit PLC technology into RBOC networks.
