The previous chapters of this book focused on how UMC can extend the mobile capabilities of a telephony application. For a business, the telephone is its lifeblood for communicating to associates, vendors, and customers. The other communication lifeblood of business is email. The importance of mobile email was demonstrated clearly by the meteoric growth of Research in Motion's BlackBerry product, which supports mobile email over a cellular data network.
