Playing local H.264 video

AIR for iOS now provides support for the high-quality, low bit-rate H.264 video format, enabling best-in-class high-definition playback through the StageVideo class. By taking advantage of hardware acceleration, H.264 video reduces CPU usage and consumes less memory than comparable formats including FLV.

In this recipe, we will play back H.264 video that has been bundled locally with an app.

Getting ready

The steps covered here are applicable only to those using AIR 3.0 and above. If you are using Flash Professional CS5, then you will be unable to attempt this recipe.

From the chapter's accompanying code bundle, use chapter12\recipe2\recipe.fla as a starting point.
