7. Working with Symbols

Ultimately, you’ll want to animate the static graphics you’ve learned to create, and you’ll probably want to use them again and again. Fortunately, you can save graphic elements for reuse by turning them into symbols and storing them in the library that is a part of each Flash document.

A symbol is just one type of library asset. The library also contains bitmaps, font symbols (embedded fonts), sounds, and video clips. Flash refers to each copy of a library asset that you use in a movie as an instance of that asset.
