Once you’ve chosen the characters, setting, and plot for your flip book, it’s time to storyboard. Storyboards look like comic strips, with panels where you can identify every action and camera angle that will appear in an animation.

You will probably be the writer, director, and artist of your flip book, so you don’t need to be too technical when creating your storyboards. Still, it is useful to know some terms for storyboarding and camera angles.

• Close up (C/U): Close view of a character or an object in a frame

• Extreme C/U: Closer view that frames only a detail of the subject

• Medium shot (M/S): View of the subject from a medium distance

• 2-shot: View of 2 people in a frame
