From years of workshops and working with students, I’ve noticed there are common challenges and difficulties that all of us face as we begin photographing food. Some are easy to overcome; others require practice. But because all of us have been eating all of our lives, we’re already semi-experts on the topic!

A: When there is not enough light, the camera’s shutter must stay open longer. Trying to hold a camera for a longer exposure is extremely difficult.
