Abstract

The methods covered in this chapter address two related issues. Foodshed analyses inquire about the past, present, or future sources of food for a particular place. Carrying capacity studies examine the ability of a specific geographic area to feed people. These two issues are so closely linked that they can be hard to tell apart. Nonetheless, the nuance is important.
