Accidental Perps
Not long ago, I ordered a handbag from one of my favorite designers, Calleen Cordero. Cordero makes timeless, supple, intricately beaded bags that are truly exquisite. She’s also based in the United States, and I make it a point to buy handmade products from small US businesses whenever I can. I had been eyeing a new cross-body bag for a while and decided I’d splurge and get myself a new one for Mother’s Day. The bag arrived, and I was thrilled.
The following day, I opened my door and found a box on my doorstep with the Calleen Cordero logo on it. I was surprised; I hadn’t ordered anything. Had my beloved husband decided to buy me a post–Mother’s Day gift from my favorite retailer?
