I used numerous types of reference for the creation of this book. Of course, as always, real life is the best reference. I drew the images found in this book from zoos, friends’ pets, documentaries on TV and YouTube, DVDs, books, Internet images, magazines…the list goes on. Anywhere that I could find inspiration, I was happy to use it. My trips to the Oakland Zoo, San Francisco Zoo, and Safari West produced rich family time mixed with work. Go and support your local zoo, get to know the animals there, and take a friend.
